Karina Chetty is a distinguished PhD candidate in Criminology and Forensics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), with a research focus at the critical intersection of cybersecurity, digital forensics, and artificial intelligence. Her current work centres on developing innovative strategies to safeguard intellectual property in medical institutions, bridging the fields of technology, law, and medicine.
An interdisciplinary scholar and a cum laude graduate in Development Studies, Karina brings a unique and impactful perspective to contemporary global challenges. Her academic journey has been marked by remarkable resilience—in December 2022, she was diagnosed with a brain tumour and underwent intensive chemotherapy and radiation. Despite these challenges, she has continued to pursue her research with unwavering determination and excellence.
