
Ms. Anelisa Mente-Mpako
Ms. Anelisa Mente-Mpako is the Digital Scholarship Manager at the University of the Western Cape Library, with previous appointments at Rhodes University and Nelson Mandela University. She brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the field of academic librarianship, particularly in the areas of digital scholarship, research support, and scholarly communication.
Her professional interests include curating information, student academic development, research capacity building, and the promotion of open scholarship. A passionate advocate for learning technologies and lifelong learning, Ms. Mente-Mpako actively champions the integration of emerging technologies into higher education and research environments.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Rhodes University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies from the University of Cape Town, where she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the profession, Ms. Mente-Mpako was named South African Librarian of the Year in 2024, honoring her leadership in advancing open scholarship and supporting research excellence.
