
Mr. Sylvester Jeffries
Sylvester Jeffries is the Senior Librarian for Learning & Teaching at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) Library, where he designs, delivers, and evaluates learning resources aimed at enhancing students’ information and digital literacies. He also plays a key role in supporting librarians through instructional design and the development of student-centred, flexible learning strategies.
His professional interests include artificial intelligence and digital literacies, ePedagogy, instructional design, and professional development for educators and librarians alike. Sylvester brings a multidisciplinary academic background to his role, holding a BCom and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Senior & FET Phases) from Rhodes University, and a BSc Honours in Computing and Information Systems from UNISA. He is currently pursuing an MEd in Adult Learning and Global Change at UWC.
Prior to his current role, Sylvester held teaching and programme management positions at Rhodes University, GADRA Educational Welfare, and Victoria Girls’ High School, where he contributed to curriculum development and educational access.
A passionate advocate for digital transformation in education, Sylvester is committed to equipping students and staff with the literacies and tools needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving academic and technological landscape.
